I found an old buddy, an extraordinary coach and an educated instructor In my mom. My mom Is Just a customary lady with a phenomenal mettle, tirelessness, assurance, a big-hearted soul, and an exceptionally kind heart. For example, I can be murdering myself taking a shot at a venture for school throughout the night with dark circles conforming to my drained eyes as I wish they could be shut and rested. At that point out of nowhere, she shows up before me, truly drained from a hard day of work with swollen feet and rankles all over her hands and feet, and sluggish eyes inquiring as to whether I need assistance with anything. They are so annoying!† she reacts in a quiet and sweet voice, â€Å"Darling, quiet down. We will fix this correct now as a family.† And so we do; she situates them two on the disarranged earthy colored couch and lets them know, â€Å"Share with one another. Offer Alejandro the chance to play likewise, okay?† They state with pup hound eyes, â€Å"Ok, mommy† and with a genuine face she advises them to apologize to one another. They comprehend and comply. More often than not, she and I cook all together. It is her method of showing me how to cook. She is likewise exceptionally kind to my younger siblings when they break something; however just in the event that they didn't have the goal to. My mom has shown me how to effective quiet the children down, to cook, and be caring to my family. Moreover, my mom is the most elevated inspiration I have in this world since she shows me life exercises. For instance, she went to the United States with my younger siblings, my incapacitated father who lost his leg and vision, and me. She deals with us despite the fact that she is only one individual, and carries out the responsibility of a mother and father simultaneously. I know this since I watch her arrival from work (housekeeping) every day very depleted. At the point when I take a gander at them it harms me. Now and again, I feel my heart throbbing and barren since I can't effectively help with her commitments. At the point when I am going to say something regarding it, she comes up to me with a stressed face and puts her hand on my head and with a sweet voice and grin she says, â€Å"Mi hija (my little girl), you need to concentrate on your profession and future. Everything in this life has a period. Try not to stress over me. Guardians should deal with their children.† When I hear this I feel an exceptional vibe of bitterness which makes my eyes right away haze. I perceive how this awesome lady has been doing the entirety of this for us, her family. My family didn't have a vehicle in 2011. She needed to go to work by foot for a long while. Presently she has a dark and utilized, however agreeable, Toyota Camry in view of her difficult work. My mother doesn't have the foggiest idea about the English language well indeed, yet with her charming character she can speak with everyone. Her activities show me a day by day exercise. Despite the fact that the way is hard, with affection and confidence I can make my fantasies and objectives work out as expected. At long last, Ana Maria Tejeda Martinez is the best consolation I have on earth since she bolsters me with my instructive objectives, causes my siblings to be better kids, and even shows me exercises that will remain with me always to assist me with having a prosperous future in my bright, memorable, and confounded little life. With these accounts, I have demonstrated the reasons why my mom is an incredible individual in my eyes, and I don't focus on what others think, in light of the fact that these are the encounters I have lived with her. They are the proof for why I tear down her constantly. This statement says everything, â€Å"All that I am, or would like to be, I owe to my blessed messenger mother.†-Abraham Lincoln

Debunking 10 Common Job Search Myths

Exposing 10 Common Job Search Myths Psst†¦if you don’t carry seven duplicates of your resume to the meeting, imprinted on costly paper, they won’t pay attention to you. Goodness, and in the event that you don’t catch up with Human Resources once per day, consistently after your meeting, they’ll overlook you exist. †¦Pass it on! The pursuit of employment is one of those procedures that is strangely controlled (when is the last time you saw a resume that wasn’t templated nearly to death?), yet in addition subject to old wives’ stories and everybody thinking they know best. (But we do. Trust.) It can be difficult to tell what guidance to depend on, and which to think about while taking other factors into consideration. In that soul, let’s take a gander at probably the most widely recognized bits of pursuit of employment customary way of thinking, and perceive how it piles up, reality-wise.Myth: You don’t need an introductory letter anymore. This is a famous one in this period of computerized requests for employment and anonymous occupation motor destinations. The expression â€Å"cover letter† itself passes on a past time: you would enclose your resume by a paper-life substance secured with words about your goals, your capabilities, and your excitement to talk top to bottom about this chance, at that point place it in another paper spread, whereupon a government worker would pass on your bundle to a â€Å"mailbox.† Quaint, no?In reality, the introductory letter does in reality fill a need, regardless of whether the whole procedure is taken care of on the web. It encourages offer setting to your resume, and puts a voice to your details. Your resume might be impartially evaluated for catchphrases by a robot inside a hamster wheel (that’s how those destinations work, right?), however sooner or later your bundle will be seen by a human hoping to employ you. It’s great practice to compose an introductory letter t o append to your resume, paying little mind to how you send in your package.Myth: Never quit a place of employment without having another bid for employment first.Ideally, sure, you’d have your next activity arranged while you’re as yet working, and have a consistent progress starting with one then onto the next. In any case, you know what doesn’t consistently line up effectively? Life. Some of the time leaving your place of employment is the correct alternative, paying little mind to what you have coming up straightaway. Not having a vocation arranged can make your pursuit of employment increasingly muddled, yet this isn’t a highly contrasting issue.Myth: Add HR individuals to your system for future opportunities.According to profession master Hannah Morgan, this isn't the best utilization of your time or systems administration vitality. HR experts are normally centered around filling explicit jobs at explicit occasions. They may not think about future o penings, or even think to dig their own systems for openings that have just come up. You’re happier systems administration with individuals in your objective offices at explicit companies.Myth: Enthusiasm and energy exceed understanding for reach positions.I wish this one were valid! Tragically, actually conquering an absence of experience is a significant test for individuals hoping to step up, or individuals attempting to change professions. While it’s not a unimaginable test, particularly if you’re submitted, there’s no simple route around an absence of experience. In a perfect world, you’d be enthusiastic and energetic while effectively attempting to get more understanding. Be that as it may, while energy alone may get you spunkiness extra focuses, it may not convert into a bid for employment. On the off chance that you’re attempting to demonstrate your commitment to the activity, in any event, when you don’t have the most experie nce, you can help yourself by fitting your resume to stress abilities over experience, and utilize the meeting as a stage to discuss different ways you’re qualified for the position.Myth: You can’t change profession ways after you pick one.Ever knew about renowned paper editorial manager Walt Disney? Or on the other hand what about incredible civil servant Julia Child? No vocation choice is a perpetual one, on the off chance that you don’t need it to be. Once in a while we simply grow out of old decisions and profession choices aren’t safe from that. Or on the other hand possibly your vocation way isn’t what you figured it would be the point at which you began. Or on the other hand possibly you simply feel prepared for a change. Whatever the explanation, you can generally get ready to begin once again in another field. There are difficulties in doing the switch-understanding? Openings for work? Aptitudes?- however on the off chance that you’ re put resources into this change and make arrangements to get the experience and abilities you need (or are happy to begin from the base), there’s nothing halting you.Myth: All you need is a decent resume.A great resume is the focal point of your employment form bundle, that part is valid. Yet, it’s by all account not the only thing, and you can’t rely on it to get you from first hope to bid for employment. You have to construct the remainder of your bundle around it. Indeed, even incredible resume probably won't have the option to defeat a â€Å"meh† meeting or more regrettable, and effectively terrible one. It’s imperative to have the option to put your resume subtleties (abilities, experience, vocation features) in setting, and to have the option to discuss them reasonably and unhesitatingly. You need your voice as a candidate to come through, and that comes by means of the meeting, not simply the visual cues on paper (or screen). When you send off your resume, that’s your beginning stage for talk with prep. Practice your handshake, concoct explicit accounts that exhibit your abilities, and don’t neglect to carry inquiries to ask.Myth: Hiring administrators will have the option to draw an obvious conclusion on my capabilities for this job.Don’t leave anything to risk! In the event that you need the organization to know you’d be a solid match in light of your correspondence and administration aptitudes, let them know! Don’t depend on a HR rep or a questioner to expect that dependent on your training, or past employments, that you’d be a solid match for the position. Utilize the introductory letter and the meeting to further your best potential benefit to make associations with the set of working responsibilities, and ensure you hit the focuses you need to hit.Myth: I’m obviously qualified, so the robotized application framework will push me to the top.Remember the thing I jus t said about not underestimating things? This goes twofold for modernized application forms. At the point when you chip away at your resume for this application, ensure you’re utilizing the same number of catchphrases from the expected set of responsibilities as you can, just as planning how to make your resume pop, even in robot eyes. Knowing how these computerized motors procedure and let out the information in your resume is an incredibly accommodating apparatus in effectively attempting to game the application framework. [via Lifehacker]Myth: You should remain in steady contact with the employing division so they know how drawn in you are.Follow-up is extraordinary. A card to say thanks is basic. Be that as it may, from that point forward, routinely registering to perceive how the post-talk with process is moving along is certifiably not an extraordinary technique. For a certain something, they might be seeing different applicants, or doing an interior audit process. Recr uiting can have a great deal of moving parts, and on the off chance that somebody is out in the midst of a get-away for a couple of days or there are various qualified up-and-comers, you may not land the moment position offer that you may plan to get. After you present a resume, it’s best to hold up until you get notification from the company†¦reaching out at that stage won’t essentially help get your resume seen or considered. After you have a meeting, send your thank you around the same time, and afterward give them in any event seven days. At the multi week point, it’s alright to begin checking in sporadically (however just once in a while). What's more, there are other, less intrusive approaches to catch up after the meeting, if you’re feeling particularly on edge and don’t need to irritate the recruiting supervisor or patient HR rep.Myth: Your best openings for work are found online. The interweb is truly outstanding, most comprehensive app aratuses you have in your pursuit of employment weapons store. You can discover organizations and openings that you may never have thought to scan for, and can have your resume in someone’s submits the time it takes to send an email. Be that as it may, don’t tally out disconnected strategies, either. There’s something to be said for classic, organizing: most occupations are as yet filled by either inner competitors or by candidates legitimately alluded by representatives. (There’s an explanation such a large number of organizations offer referral rewards for workers who get recently recruited employees. Also, who doesn’t like gaining money for their companions?) So while work motors can expand your pursuit of employment, don’t depend on them only to land that position offer in your hands. There’s so much vocation guidance out there, and it very well may be difficult to tell what’s valid, what used to be valid, and what just isnâ €™t valid. Setting aside the effort to thoroughly consider (and do some exploration) about which of our most esteemed pursuit of employment clichés and â€Å"facts† will make you a more slender, meaner up-and-comer outfitted with the best data to settle on choices for your own profession and quest for new employment.

The Responses to the Humanitarian Erisis in Darfur Essay

The Responses to the Humanitarian Erisis in Darfur - Essay Example This low occurrence of mediation appears at chances with the understanding went into by most nations in the Genocide Convention of 1948 wherein they perpetrated, under Art 1, â€Å"to forestall and to punish†2 the wrongdoing of massacre. Could this inability to intercede in the destructive exercises of sovereign states be established in the failure of the human rights development to move worldwide activity? The instance of Darfur gives an auspicious chance to look at reality of that hypothesis. It is basic that a meaning of annihilation be investigated and built up first since a great part of the contention encompassing global inaction today are from various perspectives identified with the very definition and utilization of the term â€Å"genocide†. As is best exemplified by Shelly’s pleasantry over, the definition and utilization of the term destruction has been tangled by political tricks which appear to observe an implicit standard to never utilize the term costs. Rather than the term â€Å"genocide†, terms, for example, â€Å"ethnic violence†, â€Å"ethnic cleansing†, â€Å"acts of genocide†, and â€Å"civil war† have become the trademark of the politically-clever. It would be just as by staying away from the term destruction, a helpful emergency, for example, Rwanda or Darfur would stop to be slaughter and change into something progressively satisfactory to the taste. We should accordingly fall back on the meaning of de cimation settled upon by a similar worldwide network before they really ended up bound to follow through on such definition. In the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the accompanying definition is obviously point by point.

Political Orientations and Its Impact on industrial relations - Free Essay Example

The following content will evaluate how and to what extent workplace representatives in the current era are important in trade unions. Trade unions are organisations that represent people at work and are principally concerned with protecting its members in the employment relationship. (Salamon. 1987. 81). A trade union consists of a group of workers who come together to organise and represent their interests in order to be more conversant and powerful when it comes down to cooperating with their employers. The trade unions or labour unions originated when groups of workers came together to form an organisation that works towards their well being (Edwards, March, 2003). The significance of the trade unions lie in the fact that they can negotiate wages, rules of hiring, recruitment and firing, working conditions, workplace security and safety policies, employee benefits, compliant processes, promotion policies, retirement benefits, etc. with the employers and the government on behalf of their members (Dine, 2007). The trade unions gain their strength due to the numbers of members who join them. Thus, providing the unions with the power to sometimes dictate terms to employers, governments and other parties and may influence the political, economic and social climate within a coun try (Dine, 2007). The unions also by virtue of their positions exercise power and influence on their members as well as non-members (Edwards, March, 2003). The essay will look at Trade Unions in UK and USA: Political Orientations and Its Impact on the Industrial Relations aims to compare and contrast the political orientation of trade unions of the United kingdom and the United States of America and evaluate their differential impact on the industrial relations systems in both the countries. In an attempt to achieve this aim, this essay looked at the trade unions in the UK and the Labour Unions in the USA and made a comparative analysis of the differences and similarities between the two with regard to their political orientations. And, tried to analyze how these similarities and differences in their political orientations impacted the systems of industrial relations that existed in both the countries. The essay thus aimed at providing explanatory insights into understanding the rel ations that existed between the political orientations of trade / labour unions and the industrial relations systems of a country. The trade unions originated in Europe and spread across of different countries around the world during the industrial revolution (Ebbinghaus and Visser, 2000). The trade unions in the United Kingdom were established as early as 1867 and aimed at improving the socio-economic situation of members of the working class (Ebbinghaus and Visser, 2000). It soon turned into a movement that resulted in the formation of the present day Labour Party in the UK (McIlroy, Fishman and Campbell, April, 2008). With changing times and governments in the country, trade unions saw an upheaval in their power orientation, membership trends and structure (Josselin, January, 2001). What began as a movement by the blue collared industrial workers, are now being supported and participated in by white collared shop workers and office workers in the UK (Poole, 2003). Some of the main trade unions in the UK include the National Union of Mineworkers, the National Union of Agricultural Workers, the Association of Cotton Spinners, the Operative Society of Bricklayers, the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, the National Union of Gasworkers General Labourers, the National Union of Railwaymen and the Transport and General Workers Union, etc (Ebbinghaus and Visser, 2000). These unions are members of larger bodies known as the Trades Union Congress (TUC), the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) (Reid, April, 2005). In the USA, the trade unions are known as the labour unions. These are similar to trade unions in the UK, however comparatively smaller in size of memberships. The Labour Unions in the United States exert its power or influence through its allegiance within the Democratic Party and other like minded organisations (Kochan, Katz and McKersie, 1994). The members belonging to the labour unions include public sector employees such as law-enforcements officers, educators, etc (Kochan, Katz and McKersie, 1994). These unions similar to the unions of the UK aim at improving the working conditions of their members along with negotiations for better wages, working conditions benefits, post retirement benefits, security and safety of workers, etc. Some of the examples of labour union organisations in the USA include the American Federation of Labor, the Workingmans Party, the Industrial Workers of the World, the Knights of Labor, the United Mine Workers, the Congress for Industrial Organisations, etc ((Kochan, Katz and McKersie, 1994). These unions fall under the umbrella of two major labour unions namely: the Change to Win Federation (CtW Federation) and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organisations (AFL-CIO) (Kochan, Katz and McKersie, 1994). The aims or goals of the trade / labour unions in both the counties and in other parts of the world remain similar and ye t there are differences in the way these unions / organisations are organised, structured, functioned and negotiated their power of influence. Black had suggested that trade unions, however big or small, have the ability to change the politico-socio-economic environment of a country and this is the reason for their power (Black, July, 2005). With the advent of media and worldwide communication systems, these unions are gaining further strength and the ability to influence governments, private business enterprises and the masses (Yates, May, 2009). Hence it is interesting to understand how these organisations exert or apply its power if at all on the political climate of a country and influence the systems of industrial relations. Comparison of Political Orientations of the Trade / Labour Unions The trade unions in the UK and the Labour Unions of the USA share similarities and dissimilarities that impact their political orientations. In the UK, the trade unions find expression in the countrys politics through the Labour Party (Hyman, 2001). In the USA, on the other hand, the labour unions express themselves through the Democratic Party (Hyman, 2001). Weiss had suggested that the governments in countries are generally influenced and limited by the political, economic and welfare organisations with the countries (Weiss, 2004). Trade / labour unions are among the bodies that have the capability to influence the way a government makes policies on different subjects especially those which have the ability to directly or indirectly affect the workers of the country (Weiss, 2004). The free economy of the USA makes it difficult for the policy makers of the country to balance between the demands of the labour unions and those of the corporate enterprises (Frege and Kelly, Novemb er, 2004). In the light of the recent economic recession that hit the country in 2008, the political circles found it difficult to find a mid way between governmental regulations on worker benefits and corporate losses to meet those regulations. In the UK however, trade unions have had a significant influence on the way the economic and social development policies were laid out by the government (Clark, April, 2009). It is only in recent years, when the UK government has started to open up its economy to make it more liberal, have the political orientations of the trade unions lost their strong hold (Armingeon, March, 2006). It is interesting to understand here is that the Labour Party, which has strong ties with the trade unions, is the ruling party in the UK. The social orientation of the trade unions in the UK has resulted in the centre-left orientation of the present ruling party in the country. In the USA on the other hand, the Democratic Party, the ruling party adopts a libera l approach. It however is similarly oriented (centre-left) as the Labour Party of the UK. The question that can be asked at this point is whether the orientations of the ruling parties in the two countries can be attributed to the political orientations of the trade / labour unions in both the countries. With changing times, the memberships of the trade / labour unions have taken a hit (Croucher and Cotton, January, 2009). This has not only impacted their ability to influence but also their own organisational strength (Kubicek, 2004). Both the countries, UK and USA, have liberal economies, making it difficult for the unions in the present day context to completely influence the rules, policies and strategies that govern the markets and consequently the political scenario (Jose, 2002). Thus it can be stated that the political orientations of the trade / labour unions in the two countries have definite influence over the way in which the rules and policies are made by the governments in the two countries and that these impact the industrial relations systems. Impact on the Industrial Relations Systems The strength of the labour / trade unions lay in their ability to negotiate better working terms with the employers and get the governments in different countries to form labour laws that were labour oriented (Kelly and Willman, 2004). In the face of the changing times and the post communist era, the role of the labour / trade unions has started to dwindle (Clark, Delaney and Frost, March, 2003; Wahl, 2004). The question that remains is whether the labour / trade unions and their political orientations still have the ability to impact and influence the industrial relations systems in different countries. In UK, over the recent years, there have been fall in the membership of the trade unions (Crowley and Ost, 2001). One of the most commonly cited reason for this is the inability of these unions to use their political orientations and negotiating powers to benefit the workers (Frege and Kelly, 2003). Similar issues have been identified in the US as well. Studies have shown that t he trade / labour unions are not being able to offer the collective bargaining coverage to all jobs in a country (Kubicek, 2004). This is not only reducing the faith that workers had on the labour / trade unions but also the influence that these unions had on the systems of industrial relations. There have been different causes cited for the diminishing influence and impact of the labour / trade unions in the UK and the USA. Kubicek had found that the labour / trade unions were lacking in a definite labour agenda and resources (Kubicek, 2004). Crowley and Ost had suggested that the trade / labour unions are now merely regarded as the reflection of the former socialist endeavours and thought to no longer function as agents of the worker welfare (Crolwey and Ost, 2001). However, there have been instances where the political orientations of the unions have helped in preventing the government in turning completely capitalistic in its approach in the present day (The Trade Union Movement , New Labour, and Working-Class Politics. Workers Liberty). The economy of the UK and the changing economy of the USA (post the economic debacle) are changing the way the labour / trade unions and their political orientations are impacting the industrial relations systems in both the countries. Thus in conclusion, it can be said that the uncertainties created by the economic conditions in the USA and the UK are impacting the political systems and thereby changing the influence of trade / labour unions and their political orientations. These changes and impacts are being felt in the formal organisational conditions as well as the power of the employers, collective bargaining and industrial relations systems. The final outcomes being exhibited are in the form of democracy and / or oligarchy through competition, opposition, internal bargaining and finally, decentralisation of the decision-making power.

Towards the beginning of the story, the narratorâ₠¬â„¢s introduces his admiration for Mangan’s sister with much deeper emotion than those of most teenage crushes: â€Å"Her name sprang to my lips at moments in strange prayers and praises which I myself did not understand. My eyes were often full of tears (I could not tell why) and at times a flood from my heart seemed to pour itself into my bosom.† (Joyce, 108) The narrator is so overwhelmed by the incomprehensible love he feels for Mangan’s sister that it drove him to tears! As the story continues, the narrator’s emotions grow more consuming. Following his first encounter with Mangan’s sister, the narrator describes the powerful emotions he experiences during the days preceding the night of the bazaar: â€Å"I wished to annihilate the tedious intervening days. The Nature of Quantitative Research Essay - 1334 Words

The Nature of Quantitative Research Quantitative Research Defined: According to Huysamen (1997), descriptions of quantitative research typically discern a cycle of successive phases of hypothesis formulation, data collection, analysis and interpretation. Using a deductive approach, quantitative research seeks to establish facts, make predictions, and test hypotheses that have already been stated. A large part of the data analysis of quantitative research is statistical, striving to show that the world can be looked at in terms of one reality; this reality, when isolated in context, can be measured and understood, a perspective known as positivism (Gay Airasian, 1999). Quantitative researchers are those who find themselves†¦show more content†¦There are some features of quantitative research that are inherently necessary for this approach. A quantitative researcher must: state both the hypothesis studied and the research procedures that will be implemented prior to conducting the study, maintain control over contextual factors that might interfere with the data collected, use large enough samples of participants to provide statistically meaningful data, and employ data analyses that rely on statistical procedures. Source: Educational Research (Gay Airasian 1999) Without all of these characteristics in place, the results of a quantitative research study are likely to be inaccurate and unreliable. Quantitative Approaches: Due to the nature of quantitative research, certain types of research are more likely to be conducted using its methods rather than the methods involved in qualitative research. The following list contains the main types of approaches to quantitative research: 1. Descriptive or Survey Research- This type of research attempts to answer questions about the current status of the subject or topic of study. Usually, this type of research involves studying the preferences, attitudes, practices, concerns, or interests of some group of people (Gay Airasian, 1999). Financial Analysis British Petroleum (Bp) Till 2006

Financial Statement Analysis: A company s financial statements and ratios are good indicators of its performance over the years. This report specifically compares the ratios for 2004 and 2005, with some additional insight into 2003, 2002, and 2001. The current ratio has increased by 0.0534 from 0.9900 to 1.434. As the current ratio is a measure of liquidity and ability to meet short-term debt requirements, BP was more able to meet their short term debt obligations in 2005 than 2004. From 2001 to 2003 the current ratios were 1.0767, 0.9733, and 0.9600 respectively. The industry average for TAT is considerably higher than that of BP, 1.7. This shows that the industry is doing a better job than BP of turning assets into revenue. BPs debt ratio in 2005 decreased by 0.0196, from 0.6129 in 2004. The debt ratio indicates how reliant the company is on debt financing of assets. A decrease in debt ratio is good because it shows that the company is becoming less reliant on debt as a source of asset financing. The general trend has been up for BP s debt ratio, showing an increase reliance on debt to finance activities. This can be good for stockholders because it gives them more leverage by magnifying expected earnings. Also, debt for a company is not always negative, if it is being used to further develop the companies profitability prospects, it can be positive. The times interest earned (TIE) ratio has increased by 18.4476 for BP. TIE shows how much of a company s earnings are available to make interest payments. A high TIE ratio shows that the company can afford to make interest payments at the going interest rate. A low TIE ratio shows that the company will not react well to increasing interest rates. Over the past 3 years, the TIE ratio has increased from 22.3866 in 2003, to 38.7617 in 2004, and finally to 57.2093 in 2005. European Imperialism after 1850 - 3310 Words

European Imperialism after 1850 In many ways imperialism and colonization are aspects of nearly every society in recorded history. The examples are not only plentiful they dominate history. The variations include military dominance for territorial superiority and power in a regional sense to empires that sought riches through the resources and labor of others usually every example has elements of both. The period of Imperialism that dominates the minds of many is that which occurred via European sources first locally, in places like Ireland by Britain and even earlier the dominance of Charlemagne and other European entities over the Eastern Europeans whom they utilized for slave labor to exploit needed resources (Verhulst, 2002: 117). In one way or another the dominance of a more powerful group over another for the power, prestige and of course wealth of the dominating entity is the story of civilization, as migrating control lines (borders) dominate historical maps and form the basis for our modern view of history . This work will briefly, at best discuss the motivations of European imperialism after 1850, what drove it and what dominated it, both philosophically and practically. Self Management and Workload Prioritisation †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Self Management and Workload Prioritisation. Answer: Introduction: A person is capable of practising his or her profession safely via applying knowledge and skills. It is under these circumstances that we can entitle the person as fit to practise. However, professional performance is not only about fitness to practise. Professional performance also shares inherent relationship with the confidence in profession or the regulatory process in which the individual is participating. Moreover, professional performance also depends upon public protection and cast a huge impact on the same. Thus professional performance is not solely associated with professional practise. My area of profession is histopathology. Histopathology is the branch of biological science that deals with microscopic examination of tissues in order to study the process of disease manifestation in details[2]. So in order to practise my profession with confidence, I always try to keep myself updated about my subject. Moreover, in order to increase my knowledge horizon, I attend online courses and seminars. These classes assist to know my subject from the grass-root level, helping me to unearth several crucial aspects of the subject. Histopathology requires microscopic examination of biopsy, especially with the specimens collected from the cancerous tissues. My practise in a histopathology lab helps to know more about microscopic analysis of the tissue sample and thereby helping me to concentrate more on the practical aspect of the subject. Time management is ability to plan, manage and control specific amount of time spend on a particular activity. Time management is an important aspect as it helps to clear workload within shortest period of time and priorities on emergency tasks. Time management is important key to ensuring personal discipline, maintaining high quality and accuracy of task in hand. I manage time by multitasking activities that requires long time to be accomplished. This is done through ensuring that during breaks and offs am busy doing academic work and research concerning my area of specification. I utilize also this time to analyses complex laboratory data and summarize my lab reports. I have also come up with my own personal time management graph to ensure I perform maximally. The graph helps me to balance all the activities that am supposed to undertake. Such a graph is shown below When am doing procedures which require long time to generate the results and there is incubation time then I utilize the latter time by performing other procedures like preparing reagent. This reduces concurrency time which was to be done at one time and enables different tasks to be done at same time. Through proper time management it increases the accuracy and efficient of the results and save time. Good time management about establishing techniques and tools and putting them into practice by enhancing habits or work patterns that are effective. These patterns eventually form the procedural activities that one can perform them with ease. The studies carried out by (Mohammadian A, Jahangri S. A, Naghizaeh Bagh A, Pour Fizi F. A , 2006) Indicates that time management differs with age, gender, education and job rank. Studies also showed that managers were at 57.7% in terms of time management as compared to other employees who were lower. This calls for me to start acting, thinking and behaving like a manager of my own and especially the issue of time. Ensuring that there is good flow of work in my desk and that I do not hinder the persons who need my service is a key to this success. The capabilities of managers are expected to rise as their experience, age and education increases with time. The finding by (Liu O. L, Rijmen F, MacCann C, Roberts R. D, 2009) shows that female has a higher time management skill than male. This concludes that the role of gender in work force determines the time management skills and experience contributes to effective procession of accuracy in terms. It is for this reason that I have to wo rk out my gender inbuilt qualities that may hinder my performance during the placement. This is aimed at ensuring maximum yield of the time I will be working in the lab. Thus from the discussion it can be concluded that time management and regular practise is an important aspect for the staffs who are working in a histopathology lab. So in order to manage the time effectively, the staffs first need to understand their abilities, weakness and strength and then work accordingly via increasing their knowledge and skill in this subject. Proper study and practise will help them to work on their weakness and thereby enhancing their level of performance in the lab. Bibliography Aldridge J, Bray S, David T. Substance Abuse History Essays - Psychiatric Diagnosis,

Substance Abuse History A diagnostic summary was completed on 10/6/96; Jack Smith is a 41-year-old white male currently living in a small community in southern Ohio. Jack came into the agency involuntarily; his involvement with the agency is a requisite of probation for assault and domestic violence. He was arrested for assaulting his wife during an alcoholic blackout; he was placed on probation for one year on the condition he participates in substance abuse counseling. This is Jack's second involvement with this agency as a result of his alcohol abuse. His first encounter was in 1985, when he underwent after-care counseling with an agency counselor who no longer is employed at this facility. The apparent symptom's of chemical dependency were: 1) Loss of Control - Jack had made several attempts at controlling the amounts of alcohol he consumed, but those times when he was able to abstain from alcohol were when he substituted marijuana and/or other drugs. 2) Blackouts - these began occurring almost daily as a result of his alcohol and marijuana use. 3) Family History of Alcohol/Drug Usage - Jack's natural and adoptive parents, as well as three natural brothers and three natural sisters have used alcohol and/or drugs heavily. 4) Changes in Tolerance - when Jack began drinking at age 15, he soon developed a high tolerance for beer; by age 18, he was drinking six-to nine beers per occasion, and had begun smoking marijuana on these occasions. Before he stopped using marijuana in 1985, he was smoking one-two marijuana joints daily through the week, and five-six joints daily on weekends, as well as drinking the equivalent of a 12-pack of beer daily, occasionally ?chasing? it wit h whiskey during the week, and on weekend, consuming the standard 12-pack of beer in addition to half of a fifth of whiskey mixed with soft drinks. 5) Physiological Symptomology - Jack was diagnosed with bleeding ulcers shortly after he began drinking at age 15; when he entered his second treatment program in 1985, he was diagnosed with alcoholic hepatitis; currently, his flushed/tannish-looking skin and bloated appearance (edema) are indicative of further liver dysfunctions which can be attributed to his continued alcohol consumption. Business law Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Business law - Coursework Example This should follow the condition of voluntary entering into a contract. However, one can withdraw an offer if acceptance has not been agreed upon. This should be done through proper communication to the other party that you want to withdraw from the contract with clear reasons. Acceptance occurs when the party you are entering into the contract with agrees to abide by the offer (Cheshire 2007). The second element is the consideration. It is the price of the promise and doesn’t necessarily involve money value. They can take the case of interest and the rights, for this case now this fulfillment will be satisfaction leading to contractual obligation. Thirdly, there must be intentions to create a legal relationship. The agreement must be legally abiding. Constitution is the principal legal document of a country. Therefore, each every agreement has to abide by it so as to suit the country’s law. Lack of fulfillment of this will render the contract null and void. Consent is the act of informing the other party of your intentions in a contract a particular thing (Gordon Stephenson 2007). It can either be expressed or implied. In this case, there must be proper communication between the two parties. If an offer has been brought forward, then the acceptor has communicated clearly his or her intentions. This implies that a contract has be formed or entered into in case he/she accepts to abide. Pre-existing duty rule is a common law rule of a contract. It states that the performance of an act in which a party is already bound to undertake does not constitute legal consideration for a new promise (Nigel Beckmann). Party offer of a performance already required under an existing contract is an inadequate consideration for adjustment of the contract. The Use Of The Word Love :: essays research papers

Six months after I met a young man, he expressed to me how much he loved me. Being sixteen years old, I thought it to be very flattering but I could not accept him saying this to me. The word, love in the romantic sense, is something that would take so much out of me to say to a person. Love is something that you express to someone that you can not, in any way, see living your life without. The last time I saw the young man who supposedly loved me, was on my seventeenth birthday when he told me I was a waste of his time. Love is the strongest emotion and most powerful word anyone can say to someone else. Some people use the word love everyday as though it is not as big of a deal as it really is. Jewel's song, "Always," illustrates a definition of love. The first line of the song totally defines love in the same way I do with, "Please don't say 'I love you,' those words touch me much too deeply." With this one line, my entire definition of love is presented. There are other things people can love: a pet, family members, certain kinds of food but these are all loved by a different kind of love. There are millions of ways you can love, but this kind of love does not happen all the time to a person. It is the kind of love that is not there at the beginning, but grows inside you. This kind of love is for another person that you can not see your life without, even though at one time it was without that person. To express this to someone is to propose to commit your life to that other person. The other person may not feel the same way and that is why it is hard to accept someone saying that. One expressing their love to another is the greatest compliment one could ever receive for they are wanted in someone else's life forever. There are some people that do not understand the meaning of love and use it all the time as though it was just some word that makes people happy. The young man who told me he loved me also told me a month later that I was a waste of his time. He is an example of someone using the word just to make others or even himself happy.

Learner Log Book LLB Learner Log Book LLB |I. INSTRUCTIONS | The purpose of the Learner's Log Book (LLB) is to document the achievements of the learner in a central repository that will be considered as evidence on the effectiveness of the learning process. It is a ‘monitoring tool' that e-tutors use to report on individual learners' progress and it is a way of ensuring that learners: Are engaged in their learning process. They are experimenting by doing the tasks subscribed to them by the e-tutor.Avoid plagiarism because learners have to be engaged on a continuous basis and the informal assessment can therefore be used to ensure consistency with the main formal assessment. Provide e-Tutors with the opportunity to get to know the learners evaluate them and mentor them properly. There are templates which will reflect whether learners read, whether they understand, whether they assimilate the knowledge, whether they develop enquiry ability, whether they have the potential to con duct critical thinking and whether they can reflect on the knowledge accumulated by relating to real situations. The onus is mainly on learners to furnish the required information in the templates after each unit based on the Read and Analyze Activity. After filling the information in the template they need to e-mail it back to the e-Tutor. e-Tutor will then comments on the work done and the involvement that takes place and give overall impressions on the learners at the end of the module. |II. GENERAL INFORMATION | Learner Name: ID Number: Course Title: Business Process ManagementArticle Title: Rosemann and Brocke Date of Submission: 19 Oct 2011, 2pm Date of Received Feedback: ———————————————— |III. SUMMARY (100-200 words) | Provide a summary in your own words on the article you requested to read and analyze in the following space. The article introduces a brief overview o f the six core elements in business process management. Also, it states the reasons behind working hard to identify these core elements.A BPM framework that outlines the different elements of BPM is an essential guide for many purposes such as project and program management, vendor management, complexity management, standards management and strategy management. There is a need to identify the BPM framework because it can guide decision makers in all previously mentioned challenges. The BPM maturity models were used for the framework identification. However, Rosemann and de Bruin's BPM maturity model was selected as the base for identifying the core elements because of some reasons. One of these reasons is that the model was applied in a number of organizations where it proved to be of practical relevance in real life projects. Finally, the six core elements and their subcomponents were identified. The critical BPM elements are strategic alignment, governance, methods, information tec hnology, people and culture. BPM must be linked to the organizational strategy. It should establish clear responsibilities and guide decision making processes. BPM adapts a set of methods and IT solutions that supports activities along the process lifecycle like modeling, implementation, monitoring and improvement.People and culture as core elements include individuals as well as groups and their values and beliefs in regards to process-centered organization. |IV. CRITICAL ANALYSIS | This is the most important section in your analysis. To complete it successfully, the learner is to consider the following guiding steps: ? Present arguments coherently, supported by evidence and facts to substantiate on why you may take a particular stance and/ or position towards a particular approach whether against or in support of it; ?Where applicable, attempt to bridge the gap between the theory and conceptual work and the application under consideration. I believe that the identified BPM core el ements are an essential tool for the organization success. BPM elements established a clear guide for decision makers seeking organizational excellence. I strongly agree that the performance of individuals and groups and the business processes must be linked to the organizational strategic goals. Process measures are necessary for continuous identifying, measuring and developing of the actual business processes performance.Process measures may clarify the organizational goals and facilitate changes towards better customer satisfaction. Furthermore, I believe that having a clear definition of roles and responsibilities is an essential success factor. This definition clearly states the critical tasks, what is expected from employees and groups, how to meet the expectations and how to improve the business. Therefore, it provides a linkage of process performance with strategic goals. I agree that methods and IT solutions must be part of the core elements. They provide essential tools and techniques that facilitate redesigning of the business processes in order to achieve performance improvement. Finally, culture has a strong impact on the business and its performance because cultural beliefs and values set the negotiation and communication style. People attitudes and behaviors may improve business processes and may delay the improvement. It depends on their willingness to adapt new changes. |V. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS |How could you apply the subject matter from the article in a real business case? The core elements must be applied in all business cases to enable improvement in the operative efficiency. This can be done by strongly linking the organizational goals with business performance. All job descriptions and duties must be defined in accordance to the organizational mission and goals. Ensure that governance is applied by providing each employee with a clear and specific definition of the activities, tasks and processes.Employees will be aware of what's expec ted from them and how to meet the expectation by applying governance element. Apply methods and IT techniques to facilitate process modeling and analysis instead of using traditional methods. For example, oil and gas industries use HYSYS program to model the processing plant and simulate any future changes to study the change impact on the industry before implementing it in reality. This how IT implementation facilitates business processes. People whether individuals or groups play a vital role in organizational success.On-going training that aligns with the strategic goals must be provided to employees to enhance their skills and knowledge. Individuals must be encouraged to take responsibilities and be accountable for major tasks. This can be done by delegation of a major task of the leader to the employee where the employee will be responsible for delivering the desired outcomes. After delivering a major task in the desired results, the employee will gain confidence and willingnes s to lead in future jobs.People within one organization must adapt similar values and beliefs and must be linked to each other. Organizing communities and networks at work will help creating a culture. For example, having an organizational day out will facilitate communication among various people in the organization. |VI. LEARNING REFLECTIONS | What have you learnt? Identify the key learning points and the lessons learnt. Critical thinking is about the lessons learnt to be drawn from the analysis. BPM framework can serve many vital purposes such as project management, vendor management, complexity management, standards management and strategy management ? BPM framework comprehensively structures BPM as an organizational capability and not only as the execution of tasks in the process lifecycle ? BPM consists of six core elements that represent its success factors ? BPM core elements are strategic alignment, governance, methods, IT, people and culture ? BPM must be linked to the or ganizational strategies and goals where all processes are designed in accordance to strategic priorities ?Governance defines clear responsibilities and focuses on the design of decision-making processes ? Methods and IT tools must be applied to facilitate process modeling, execution, monitoring, control, improvement and project management ? Human capital of the organization is an important factor for improving business processes |IX. e-TUTOR COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK | |Mark: | [pic][pic]
